To put it simply, life is short. We can’t predict the future. So, we decided to seize the moment, take a chance and GO FOR IT! Today is our Someday…
We sold our house and furniture and put the rest in storage. Traci quit her job in marketing and Mike quit his job in outside sales. Bought a 40 foot motorhome (“The MoHo”) and decided to go on the ultimate road trip through the US and Canada. Our departure date is May 16, 2013 and return date is open-ended. Our hope is to travel for 18 months to 2 years, then return to Washington refreshed and ready for the next stage of our lives before we can “officially” retire.
We had been talking about doing something like this for a long time, but never really thought we could seriously pull it off. Correction: Mike always knew; it just took some time to convince Traci — it’s the glass half-full/half-empty thing. After countless discussions and planning, researching, budgeting and wine drinking, we decided to make it happen. Scary for sure, but exciting at the same time.
And here we are, gearing up to hit the road. We look forward to sharing our experiences with you and hearing from all of you along the way! Cin Cin, Mike & Traci
HERE is our first blog post which gives a bit more background.
MoHo and toad pics:

Sold the Kayaks in May 2014 since we weren’t using them as much as we had hoped. Bought bikes instead!
I am SO PROUD of you (and green with envy)
! I will LOVE living vicariously through this blog and I’ll be a regular visitor! XOXOXOXOXO! – P
When in Utah don’t forget Capital Reef National Park. The least visited but exciting also. When in Moab hit the Moab Brewery. Excellent suds. Now the favor…I collect beer coasters. When you find one grab it for me. If it different on both sides, get 2. I am putting them along the top of the wall in the man cave.
Thanks for the tips, I will log them into my spreadsheet of places to visit! We will try and grab as many beer coasters as possible, but I don’t want to run out of storage space. You do know I/we enjoy a cold one and we could end up with a lot of coasters. 😉
Ok Millers – I have you bookmarked so I can check on you often. What an adventure! Looking forward to some tales of travel, who you meet along the way and what you learn about yourselves, I’m sure you will be much richer for the experience. Safe travels!
Absolutely love living vicariously through your journey!
Keep having a great time!
Frank
Hi M & T. Just got caught up on your trip. I got so excited abouit your log thru Utah. Jan and I did the same trip, sans Salt Lake City, 2 years ago. We hit Zion, then Bryce, followed by the Capital Reef, then Arched & Canyonlands. What great NPs!! And the scenic byway you mentioned we did also. Breathtaking views, but I am sure it was a little tuff in the MOHO. Keep collecting those coasters. Wee you on 8-31.
Did you create your blog? If not who did it?
My wife, Traci, is familiar with WordPress from her prior job, so we use that platform. We do all the updates, posts, pictures, etc. ourselves as we travel.
would she be interested in creating a blog for my construction business?
WordPress is very user friendly, they even offer phone support depending on the platform level you wish to use. It would be a challenge for her/us to try and facilitate something across country while we are traveling, thanks for the offer.
Ok thanks. Looks like you’re having a blast. I look forward to reading more.
Mike,
I want to send you a personal email. Please send it to me and I will update you two.
Love,
Emily
